POWDERLY 10/1/2024- Officials with Rural King, a Mattoon, Illinois based company, confirmed they will be closing the Powderly, KY location in December via a rewards member email Tuesday morning. This move comes as officials with the company announced a new location in Hopkinsville, KY a year ago. Work on that location has been ongoing for a few months to bring it up to spec. for the company. An official date has not been provided yet regarding the closing of the Powderly store.
Rural King recently announced an expansion and retrenching for the company. This move has led officials with the company to announce the "relocation" of the "Muhlenberg County" store to Hopkinsville. We are unsure at this time if the employees will be given the chance to relocate with the store.
Rural King has been located in the former K-Mart location since the late 1990's. According to sources, employees were notified Tuesday morning.

That's not exactly a "relocation". That's a close one store down, open another store far away. Its not even relative to each other. A "relocation" would be to move it to Greenville or Central City.
