Mustangs Face Warren East, Clarksville NE in Tip-Off Classic

GREENVILLE – The 11th annual Farmers Bank & Trust Tip-Off Classic is on tap for Friday &

Saturday, December 6-7, at Muhlenberg County High School with the Mustangs taking on

Warren East and Clarksville (TN) Northeast.


Admission to the FBTC Tip-Off Classic is free to all Muhlenberg County High School students

and to anyone with a Farmers Bank debit card. Just present your student ID or debit card at the

gate each day.





“We are again proud to help MCHS basketball tip-off the season for Mustang Nation and fans

throughout the area,” said Dean Rowe, Muhlenberg County President of Farmers Bank & Trust.

“Over its 11-year history, the Classic has twice featured the eventual Kentucky state champion

(Owensboro in 2015 and Bowling Green in 2017) in addition to multiple region champions. So,

come on out, enjoy this great show, and support our coaches, kids, and school.”

The action gets started on Friday (Dec. 6th) at 6 p.m. when the Lady Mustangs square off with2nd Region foe Livingston Central. In the nightcap, the Mustangs face the Warren East Raiders from the 4th Region at 7:30 p.m.


A special ceremony will be held between games on Friday night as the banner honoring the

Muhlenberg County Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be raised to the gymnasium rafters.

This year’s class includes Drakesboro High School basketball and baseball great Barton

Johnson; former Kentucky State Amateur Champion golfer and Muhlenberg South alumnus

Charlie Cornette; Muhlenberg County High School cross country and bass fishing state

champion Chase Geary; Central City alumna and former owner of the ABA’s Kentucky Colonels

Ellie Durall Brown Moore; Hughes Kirk graduate and shooting sports champion Jerry Posey;

Angela Bishop Stringer, the all-time leading scorer in Bremen girls’ basketball history; former

UofL and Central City all-state basketball standout Bob Watkins; five-time region champion golf

coach Eddie Wilcox; the 1985 Muhlenberg Central Spartans baseball team; and the 1963-64

Bremen Golden Eagles basketball team.


The action continues on Saturday with three more matchups starting at 4 p.m. In a first for the

Farmers Bank & Trust Tip-Off Classic – there will be a battle of 8th grade powers as Muhlenberg

County Middle School takes on the Russellville Middle Panthers.

Next, 2nd Region power Hopkinsville squares off with Bardstown from the 5th Region at 5 p.m.

followed by the Mustangs and Clarksville-Northeast at 7 p.m.

Muhlenberg County head coach Aaron Morris and his Mustangs are looking forward to the

challenge.


“You improve as a team by playing against high-level competition and we look forward to

playing against both of these quality programs with Warren East and Clarksville-Northeast,”

Morris said. “If you’re a basketball fan, there’s no better place to be than Mustang gym on Dec.

6-7.”
