GREENVILLE, KY- The Muhlenberg County Mustangs Boys Basketball Team are in the midst of an amazingly hot start to the 2024-2025 season. As a matter of fact, Coach Aaron Morris has them currently tied with the school record for starts to a season, 4 wins and NO losses. The last time a Mustang boys team started the basketball season off 4-0 was in 2011-2012. That team would later end the season as the 3rd Region Runner Up.
Can they do it again? Well, the obvious answer is yes they can. They've already managed to tie the record this year with a victory over Hopkinsville on Tuesday night. If they manage to set a new record, they will have to do it in their first road game of the year at McLean County High School. A tough place to play and especially so since first year Head Coach Ryan Groves (Mustang Girls) was the Head Coach at McLean County for 4 years previous. His son, Jaelin Groves, stayed at McLean County for his Junior year on the Varsity team. On top of Groves' move to Muhlenberg, one of the top 3 players to come out of McLean County in the last 10 years (Gunnar Revelett) made the move to Muhlenberg County over the 2024 summer where he's already proven to be a HUGE asset for Coach Morris. Revelett joined the 1,000 Point Club at MCHS during the Clarksville Northeast Basketball game at the Farmers Bank & Trust Tip Off Classic.
Calhoun is a tough place to play. Small and intimate, their gym can be very loud. The majority of McLean Varsity players have expressed their desire to win this game. All players on both sides understand the significance. 10th District, 3rd Region, and Boarder Rivals braggin rights all at stake here. It will be a good night, Friday, in Calhoun. Will Muhlenberg set a new record? We'll see!
The boys and girls will be in action Friday at McLean.
