Faith Based Youth Center Interest Grows

Brittney Coe

A local community member is pursuing the idea of a faith-based youth center in Muhlenberg County. Brittney Coe has started the early process of gauging interest in a faith-based center designed to provide a safe and fun environment for kids from elementary to high school.

The premise was born out of the wildly successful Rocketown in downtown Nashville. Rocketown was created by Christian Artist Michael W. Smith in 1994 and has grown considerably since then to include a cafe, concert venue, music studio, e-sports arena, and an indoor skate park.

The idea has grown as part of project planning during the 2024 Muhlenberg Civic Leadership Institute class. There are many steps that are required to get a project of this nature to become a reality. Brittney has been in contact with Rocketown and as part of the process it's important to gauge public interest. She has started a petition to tackle this crucial step. Rocket Town's mission is to be "A place for all young people that offers hope and changes futures through Christ’s love." Rocketown in nondenominational and although faith-centered, it is a safe place to hang out and enjoy for all students, no matter their views.

*"Rocketown is the place for teens to have fun, make friends, and launch a life of purpose and faith. With amazing entertainment, recreational facilities, after-school programming, and concerts, Rocketown creates an open, welcoming environment where youth know they’re accepted and belong. Surrounded by caring staff and volunteers, students are given the opportunity to experience the love of God, explore bigger possibilities, and find their place in the world."
