Governor Andy Beshear Attends Habitat for
Humanity Home Dedication in Bremen on Tornado Anniversary
Bremen, KY – On the solemn anniversary of the devastating tornado that struck Bremen in December 2021, Governor Andy Beshear joined Habitat for Humanity to dedicate a new home for Andrew and Charity Oglesby, a local family affected by the storm. The event marked another step forward in the recovery and rebuilding efforts.
The home, constructed in partnership with volunteers, donors, and Habitat for Humanity, symbolizes resilience and hope for the community still healing from the tragedy. Governor Beshear said “I’m not sure any community got hit harder than this one. You look at the size of the community and those that are lost and I know you’re still missing those individuals but they are so proud of you. They’re so proud of the work that this community is done and you honor their legacy today making sure another family is back on their feet”
Local leaders and community members gathered for the ceremony, where the new homeowners expressed their gratitude for the support that made their dream a reality. The dedication highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing the ongoing needs of the tornado survivors.
Heath Duncan, Habitat for Humanity Pennyrile Region Executive Director said in a statement, “We’re really excited to be here to dedicate a home for the Oglesby’s. This has been a long time coming for them three years from the tornado. We are really excited for them. To resent them a new house…it’s an honor.”
This milestone underscores Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to helping families and communities recover and move forward, even in the face of immense challenges.
