Bangin' Day For Muhlenberg County

Updated: Nov 8

GRAHAM, KY- Officials with Repkon USA as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Congressman Brett Guthrie, and Judge Executive were all gathered to announce a new investment coming to Muhlenberg County on Friday afternoon at the VFW in Greenville. Repkon USA announced on Friday their intent to begin production of "high tech, safe, and environmentally safe" TNT at their new site in Graham. This new TNT manufacturing facility will eventually ramp up to a production of 155mm artillery rounds, grenades, and more.

Repkon USA officials said they hope to have groundbreaking within the next 6 months. Officials with the company stated a few environmental studies have to be completed before ground can be broke. Repkon USA said that construction jobs would total between 200 and 250 with final production employment of 50 full time, well paid, jobs. The timeline for this project is around 36 months from groundbreaking to production.

“For the first time in decades, America will produce TNT on its own soil, manufacturing the explosive material our military uses for everything from hand grenades to 155mm artillery. I’m proud that the National Security Supplemental I championed in the Senate will bring home $435 million in federal funding to establish this TNT capability right here in Kentucky, helping retool the defense industrial base our military relies on. Through this partnership with the Army and Repkon USA, our state is proving once again that we have the infrastructure, workforce, and logistics edge to take on projects critical to our national defense,” said Senator Mitch McConnell. “Working alongside Congressman Guthrie and Judge McGehee, I will continue to ensure Western Kentucky always punches above its weight.”

Congressman Brett Guthrie along with Judge Executive Mack McGehee emphasized Muhlenberg County's longstanding relationship with explosives as a key factor in locating this type of industry here. Officials hope to tap into new training options that will be coming online in Muhlenberg County in the very near future.

More details are coming and we will update when we get them.
